Muona Foundation supports crocodile bite victims with prostheses. The crocodile bites were sustained along the river banks of the Shire River during farming along the river banks of the Shire River.
The dry spells and crop failures compel local people to cultivate crops along the river banks of the Shire River, in the process, the habitat for both crocodiles and hippos becomes disturbed. The local people not only clear the habitat for the reptiles but also conduct fishing activities hence depleting fish in the river causing crocodiles and hippos to be food insufficient. Crocodiles attack local farmers and most people lose limbs. Some loose legs, and arms, and some people disappear without trace.
Most Crocodile bite victims find it hard to make ends meet since they are unable to work due to the lost legs or arms.
Muona Foundation, therefore, supports such victims with artificial legs and arms to lessen their problems experienced after the Crocodile bites. There are more crocodile bite victims in Muona whose stories are not yet told to the wider public but require similar support and economic support through projects that promote their income-earning opportunities.
