Muona Foundation works hand in hand with communities and stakeholders in improving the livelihoods of marginalized and poor communities by constructing shallow water wells for small-scale irrigation from the main water source (river or shallow water well) to the gardens where communities can use canalized water for irrigating crops such as Maize, Beans, Rice, Vegetables, etc. Local farmers can cultivate crops three times a year as opposed to depending on rainfall once a year. Muona Foundation Provided treadle pumps to local farmers’ clubs to improve crop production and Supported small-scale farmers in reducing crop losses. Cooke, Chinyanje, and Namaluzi were some of the irrigation schemes Muona Foundation supported.
