Muona Foundation is committed to enhancing the livelihoods of communities through practical initiatives that promote economic empowerment and sustainability. One such initiative is the introduction of wheelbarrows to enable households, goods like maize to maize mills, compost manure to the gardens, farm produce to the market, and water containers from the borehole to households at a reduced cost. Wheelbarrows are put on a pool where community members can hire for a fee and bring them back after use.
The project was introduced first in Group Village Head Woman Chapinga and has yet to be implemented in other Group Village Headman/Women.
Background
Recognizing the challenges faced by households in accessing affordable transportation for essential goods, the Muona Foundation launched the Wheelbarrow Initiative. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on families while promoting self-reliance and community resilience.
Implementation
In collaboration with local partners and stakeholders, Muona Foundation procured a fleet of sturdy, locally sourced wheelbarrows. The project was introduced first in Group Village Head woman Chapinga and has yet to be implemented in other Group Village Headman/Women.
